The Day the Senate President Stood Up

History was made today in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly as for the first and only time as Senate President, David Mark stood up during a session.

He made the historic stand as a protest against the unruliness of the Distinguished Senators during a Screening session for Ministerial nominee, Prof. Dora Akunyili.

Paraphrasing his words, “When the President of the Senate stands up, you all must stop talking. Never have I stood up as Senate President before.”

With the way our esteemed senators carry on with hardly an orderly moment in the House, Mr Senate President should probably order his seat to be carted away and remain standing through every ‘Honorable’ session.

  1. Some members of the national assembly lacks sanity,I don't mean to sound rude, but its obvious there days of fighting and trowing seats during honourable session,is not yet over.
