This is for ALL the Women

I’m in not a Feminist in any way. I believe Women should be Women and Men should be Men. However, I also believe that great feats from people should be acknowledged and celebrated regardless of the gender of the person who it has come from.

The world has hardly been fair to Women….but last night, a gleam of hope shone out of the Kodak Theater, venue of the 82nd Academy Awards. Kathryn Bigelow, Director of the 2008 American war thriller, The Hurt Locker, won the award for Best Director.

It’s the first time in the history of the Academy Awards that a woman would win the award for Best Director.

Bigelow is actually the ex-wife of Legendary and multiple award-winning Director of Titanic and Avatar, James Cameron, who was also nominated for the coveted award.

Wow!! I really am excited for her!! ‘The Hurt Locker’ was made with a $16million budget compared to Avatar’s $500million budget…..almost 30 ‘Hurt Locker’s’ could have been made in place of one 'Avatar'!!

I love James Cameron!! As in I actually feel like a Traitor celebrating the fact that Bigelow won the Oscar instead of him, but I just can’t help it….sorry James!! Look on the bright side; you still have more and more of your own records to break!! Let’s see her do that!! GO TEAM CAMERON!!!

Once again, Congratulations Kathryn Bigelow!! You have broken through for every woman who before last night, may have thought that a great feat like yours was impossible.

We will rise over all the limitations that the world has knowingly or unknowingly set before us and we will express the greatness that lies in each of our hearts.

I am declaring to every woman today, as Barbra Streisand put it when presenting the award to Kathryn Bigelow, “The Time Has Come”.

Happy International Women’s Day!!

  2. what do you mean women should be women and men should be men??
The worlds definition of men should be men is patriarchal, patronizing and demeaning to women! I cant believe you would say that women should play the role that society has defined for them because i know you do NOT feel that way. Clearly because you're celebrating a woman breaking out of that mold!
